M.C. Handel's Mission: Recorder
by M.C. HandelYour mission - if you choose to accept it - is to provide your recorder students with engaging, fun-to-play songs that will help them progress towards becoming better recorder players.
M.C. Handel has put together this fantastic collection of recorder pieces from Volume 16 of Music K-8 magazine. Songs are of varying difficulty, and some have more than one part, so all your students can work on, improve, and perform these tunes. Includes:
- B A Superhero - M.C. Handel and Paul Jennings teamed up to create this very hip and cool '60s jazz orchestra rock chart. It really does use just the notes B and A for recorders, and the rhythms are kept simple. But it's still reminiscent of the background music for a variety of superhero shows and movies and will put your players right into the thick of the action! (B, A)
- Good King Wenceslas - What a festive way to let your recorder players celebrate the season and really shine with rich instrumental tracks accompanying them. The arrangement calls for players to use only the notes G, A, B, C, and D, and they never play rhythms more complex than a stately quarter note. (G, A, B, C, D)
- A Little Recorder Music - Here's a new arrangement of the best known movement from Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. To give you the greatest flexibility and to allow your players to develop their skills, we recorded six versions of the work and provided two different recorder parts: one quite easy and one closer to Mozart's original melody. (Low D, E, F#, G, A, B, C, D, E; OPT. G, A, B, C, D)
- Maracas - M.C. Handel has gone Latin in this feature for recorders and maracas. A familiar and comfortable groove allows young players to easily get into the spirit. They even get to shout "Maracas!" a few times for fun. The two recorder parts - one going down to low C, the other not - provide just the right challenge for each of your students. (Low C, D, E, F, G, C; OPT. Low D, E, F, G)
- Arirang - Now your students can play one of the most popular tunes in Korea. Our arrangement of this poignant 600-year-old folk song uses the recorder notes D, E, G, A, B, and high D. Plus, we have recorded this arrangement at two different tempos to help your students gain confidence as they practice. (Low D, E, G, A, B, D)
